My yard is wreck. It has been very neglected and looks sad and dry now.?

I have increased my working hours and hardly have time to work on my yard anymore. I need to rejuvenate it...Any ideas?..Something low maintence but no cactus would be nice. I also might add that it is on a terranced hillside.
